Friends and family are mourning the loss of an area fireman who died in a car accident on I-270 early Wednesday morning.

One man is in jail and has been charged with vehicular homicide after making a u-turn on the highway, colliding with firefighter Jim Goslin.

The charge has yet to bring any comfort to the men he worked with him at Fire Station Number One. The flag is at half staff and the engines tucked away, but the memory of Goslin is as vibrant as ever.

Goslin was a 25 year volunteer and part time firefighter for the Licking County fire department.

According to the fire chief, Goslin was a, "Very, very experienced driver. He had a lot of emergency training here on driving. It's hard to tell what went wrong."

What went wrong, according to police, happened when Sandoval Crescencio made a u-turn on I-270, in the emergency lane, pulling out in front of Goslin.

Goslin, who ran a shuttle company called All Points, was transporting a passenger to the airport. He struck Crescencio and lost control of his van.

Police say Crescencio waited for them and then took off. He was later apprehended on I-70 just east of I-270.

Goslin and his passenger were air lifted to area hospitals, but it would be too late for the veteran firefighter.

The passenger, Michelle Louie is listed in stable condition.

Crescencio will be in court to face two counts of felony hit skip and vehicular homicide.
