GLOBE, Ariz. (AP) -- A wildfire burning southwest of Globe had grown to 1,932 acres by early Tuesday.
Backburning operations, done to deprive the fire of fuel, were ''very successful'' overnight, said Wendell Peacock, a spokesman for the crews fighting the fire.
The fire was 50 percent contained, but officials hoped to have it three-quarters contained by Tuesday evening.
The fire began Sunday afternoon and was believed to be human-caused.
No structures were threatened by the blaze.
More than 350 firefighters were working on the fire.
