Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute Awarded Federal Fire Grant

The grant will be used to support the activities of the Center for Firefighter Safety Research and Development.
On May 20, 2005 Congressman Steny Hoyer and University of Maryland President C.D. Mote, Jr. will present a federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the amount of $750,000 to the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute. The grant will be used to support the activities of the Center for Firefighter Safety Research and Development, which was established by the University of Maryland to research and develop new technologies to improve firefighter death and injury rates and to ensure safer operations on the fire ground.
