The Federal Emergency Management Agency today announced additional awards for the Fiscal Year 2006 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grant (SAFER).
Eleven grants in the last two weeks from funding still available from the 2006 appropriation were made, totaling over $2.7 million. Four of the grants were to volunteer departments for recruitment and retention. Seven grants went to career departments for hiring firefighters.
