Wisconsin Firefighter Dies Responding to Boat Fire

Department reports he was responding to boat fire.
The Ephraim, Wisconsin Fire Department is saddened to announce the Line of Duty Death of Assistant Fire Chief William "Bill" Weborg. Weborg died in the line of duty Sunday, September 26, 2004 while responding to a reported boat fire.

Bill leaves behind a wife and three young sons. Bill's father Niles Weborg is the Chief of the Ephraim Fire Department. Also on the department is Bill's younger brother Scott.

According to the Green Bay Press-Gazette, Weborg and his father were responding to a call about 11 a.m. Sunday for a boat fire at Fish Creek Marina. The chief found his son collapsed in a van as they prepared to leave, and was unable to revive him. Bill Weborg had been a firefighter for 25 years.

Visitation will take place 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29th, at the Sister Bay Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 30th at the Sister Bay Baptist Church. Internment will follow the funeral, at the Ephraim Moravian Cemetary on Moravia Street in Ephraim.

Fire Departments wishing to attend the funeral are asked to please stage at the SBLG South Station in Sister Bay at 10 a.m. Thursday. The funeral and internment will be with full fire department honors, so Departments are requested to wear uniforms or dress uniforms if attending.

A Gathering/Reception with food/refreshments will be held at the SBLG South Station following internment. All fire personnel are welcomed to attend.
