Maryland Apartment Fire Injures Eight Firefighters

More than 100 firefighters were need to extinguish the fire at Coopers Crossing Apartment Complex, and eight firefighters were injured.
County fire officials have ruled that the cause of a three-alarm fire that displaced almost 100 residents was accidental.

Firefighters battled the apartment complex blaze in Landover Hills Sunday evening. More than 100 firefighters were need to extinguish the fire at Coopers Crossing Apartment Complex, located at 4434 68th Place. Four firefighters suffered smoke inhalation, and another four suffered serious burns. All injured firefighters were treated and released at a local hospital, officials said.

Of the 96 displaced residents, about half were allowed to return to their homes Monday afternoon. Investigators said the fire caused an estimated $300,000 in damage to the building and $75,000 in damage to the residents' belongings.
