Burnsville, MN (March 11, 2004) -- Firehouse World, the only major west coast fire and emergency services exposition and conference, has announced that this year's show successfully educated and trained over 6,000 fire service professionals, more than a 20% increase over last year. Over 1,300 students participated in Firehouse World's 2004 life saving hands-on training program, held last month in San Diego.

"The Cygnus Public Safety Group commits resources, time and expertise to the training and education of the nation's First Responders through its comprehensive shows like Firehouse World and Firehouse Expo, through its publications including Firehouse Magazine and Emergency Medical Product News, as well as via the world's top fire-related portal Firehouse.com," says Show Manager Robert Brice. "Our goal is to make sure that participants leave with a greater understanding of proper skills and lessons learned so they are able to go back to their own departments and pass on the training and education they received at our events."

Firehouse World's sold-out exhibit floor showcased the products and services of more than 300 companies in over 85,000 net square feet of exhibit space, a 15% increase over last year's show. "Our exhibit floor is filled with everything from apparatus to protective clothing, all items that are necessary for the success of fire service related calls," adds Brice. "Firefighters, emergency responders, members of specification committees and Fire Chiefs are all able to find what they need in one place, helping them prepare for tomorrow's emergencies today."

Firehouse World's Keynote presenters, Division Chief Bill Clayton and Assistant Chief John Hawkins, both from the California Department of Forestry & Fire Protection, and Battalion Chief Mike Alder, San Bernardino City Fire Department, directed fire teams during the October 2003 wildfires, the largest in California's history. Speaking to standing room only crowds, the commanders shared their harrowing experiences, important lessons learned and reviewed ways to prepare for future fires of that magnitude.

Each year, Firehouse World offers comprehensive conference and hands-on training programs led by nationally recognized fire service leaders. Exhibitors showcase the latest innovations in firefighting equipment, apparatus, tools, vehicle accessories, rescue/extrication equipment, training, Hazmat gear and clothing. The next annual Firehouse World will take place January 31st - February 4th, 2005 at the San Diego Convention Center.

Cygnus Expositions is currently planning Firehouse Expo, the largest East Coast fire exposition and conference that will take place July 13-18, 2004 in Baltimore, Maryland. To learn more about Firehouse World and Firehouse Expo, log onto FirehouseEvents.com.
