The all-volunteer department lost much of its equipment in the blaze that occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. while members were at a Christmas party, according to The Monitor.
A pumper truck, rescue gear and medical equipment were lost in the flames.
The department still has a tanker and two brush trucks -- which were at the party in Edinburg with firefighters, Fire Chief Domingo Hinojosa Jr. told the newspaper.
The chief and his firefighters headed to the station immediately after receiving a call from the dispatcher.
Departments from Pharr, Alamo, McAllen, Mission, Raymondville and Edinburg assisted at the fire.
Hinojosa doesn't know how much it will cost to replace the lost equipment and gear but plans to fundraise to rebuild and said that neighboring departments have lent gear and a fire truck.
"We're going to continue to serve and protect our community," Hinojosa said. "We still have fire equipment."
The Hidalgo County Fire Marshal is currently investigating the cause of the blaze.
"We're testing electrical systems; we're testing fire debris; there's a lot of things we need to take care of (before determining the cause)," Fire Marshal Juan Martinez told The Monitor.
The 60-year-old building used to be a gas station.
