A Sparta man is accused of setting fire to a convenience store after it refused to sell him alcohol.

Bradford White, 38, was arrested early Saturday morning. Authorities said he broke into Fast Eddie's Discount Liquor on the west side of Sparta, stealing some items and starting the fire.

Monroe County Sheriff Pete Quirin said White was angry because the store would not sell him alcohol because he was intoxicated.

Quirin said White was arrested earlier for trying to steal alcohol from the Fast Eddie's location on the east side of Sparta. White was held in the Monroe County Jail, but was released to a responsible party, Quirin said.

White is facing charges of arson, burglary, criminal damage to property and theft.
