WEST DEPTFORD TWP. -- The township's four fire chiefs have vowed to drill, train and, in most cases, fight fires together.

During Monday night's meeting of the Emergency Services Coordinating Council, fire officials said they hope to move forward and begin working as a team. The decision follows the December release of a critical state report citing Verga Fire Co. in the 2001 death of firefighter James Heenan.

Last month, the fire chiefs from Thorofare, Colonial Manor and Green-Fields announced that they had removed the Verga company from mutual aid lists.
