The fire chief of the Redkey Volunteer Fire Department in Redkey, Indiana died of a heart attack September 27, stricken while attending a fund raising event.
The fire chief of the Redkey Volunteer Fire Department in Redkey, Indiana died of a heart attack September 27, stricken while attending a fund raising event.

Jon Bill Luttman, 53, was the Redkey fire chief for over 20 years and was an active member of the Redkey Volunteer Fire Department.

According to the USFA, Chief Luttman was participating in a department fund raising event on the morning of the 27th and complained of not feeling well. Luttman went home and rested for a while then drove himself to the hospital complaining of flu-like symptoms. He then had a heart attack and passed away at the Jay County Hospital.

Luttman had over 24 years in the fire service. He is survived by his parents, a son and a daughter and five grandchildren.

Services were Wednesday, October 1 at M.J.S. Mortuaries-Redkey Chapel, Redkey, with burial following in Hillcrest Cemetery.
