Coffee Break Saves Man as Stockton, CA, Engine Hits His House

April 18, 2024
The drivers of two vehicles struck by the responding rig were injured, one critically.

Taking a coffee break saved a Stockton homeowner's life Wednesday morning.

While standing at the gas station counter across the street, he heard a loud crash and saw a fire truck had struck his house.

The Stocton fire engine was responding to a fire call when it collided with a car in an intersection. It then went over a median, hit a pickup truck, and slammed into the house, KCRA reported.

The four firefighters in the rig shook off their injuries to render aid to the civilians.

The pickup truck driver was critically injured while the person in the car sustained minor injuries. The firefighters were transported as well and will be OK.

Four firefighters in the engine were also hurt, though they are expected to be OK.

Part of the home's roof ended up on top of the engine while the pickup turned onto its side.

Stockton Police are investigating the wreck.
