Fire Chief Debra Amesqua says she wouldn't be able to fund seven new firefighters for a new fire station planned for the city's far east side, or nine new firefighter/paramedics to staff a new ambulance, if she is forced to comply with Mayor Dave Cieslewicz's directives for the city's 2004 operating budget.
