Los Angeles House Fire Causes $100K in Damage

First units on scene reported a one story single-family dwelling with the attached garage well involved with fire.

On Wednesday, December 25, 2002 at 1128 hours, nine companies of Firefighters and two Rescue Ambulances under the direction of Battalion Commander Michael Little responded to a greater alarm structure fire at 15520 Aqua Verde Drive in the Encino Hills area.

First units on scene reported a one story single-family dwelling with the attached garage well involved with fire. Firefighters using handlines confined the bulk of the fire to the garage with some extension to the attic area adjacent to the garage and extinguished the fire in thirty-two minutes.

One Firefighter sustained a minor shock while de-energizing the electrical panel in the garage. He was transported to Encino Hospital where he was treated and released back to duty.

The cause was an electrical problem in the panel and the loss is estimated at $200,000. ($100,000 to structure and $100,000 to contents.)
