Leicestershire Firefighter Lost in Factory Blaze

Bob Miller Dies, aged 45, Firefighter of 25 years service
It is with deep regret that the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service have to report that a firefighter has been killed while fighting the fire in Morledge Street, Leicester. The firefighter killed at the Morledge Street fire is Bob Miller, aged 45, of 25 years service. He leaves a wife, Jane, and two children aged 14 and 17. He is the first firefighter to be killed in service in the Brigade for 25 years. Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service were called on October 30, 2002 to a fire at a disused factory in Morledge Street at 2:40am. First crews on the scene were faced with a fire involving a 3 story building. The building measured 50m x 75m, and the top two floors were involved in fire. 95 firefighters from the City and County fought the blaze using 6 jets and BA. The cause of the fire will be subject to an investigation.
