Crews are on the scene of a grass fire burning in the Uvas Canyon area in south San Jose near Morgan Hill.

MORGAN HILL, Calif. -- Crews are on the scene of a grass fire burning in the Uvas Canyon area in south San Jose near Morgan Hill.

The fire has spread to about 30-40 acres. There are 11 aircraft fighting the fire, 15 fire engines and at least six hand crews battling the fast-moving blaze. The fire started around 2 p.m. and by 5 p.m. the fire was still not contained.

Two structures have burned and other structures are threatened. According to the California Department of Fire, the Santa Clara Fire Department is asking residents of the 7900 block of Croy Road to evacuate.

Uvas Canyon Park is made up of more than 1,200 acres of lushly wooded land and is nestled in upper Uvas Canyon on the eastern side of the Santa Cruz Mountains.
