PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- A year-old boy and two women were killed in fire early Wednesday that erupted in a rowhouse where a kerosene heater apparently was used for warmth, fire officials said. One man jumped to safety.

The blaze, extinguished in less than 15 minutes, broke out in a three-story home. The bodies of two women were found near a second-floor bedroom window, officials said.

Firefighters rescued the baby boy, but he was later pronounced dead at Temple University Hospital.

The cause of the fire was not immediately determined but the house apparently had no heat and a kerosene heater was being used, said Fire Commissioner Harold Hairston.

``It's a tragic situation,'' he said.

Names of the victims were not immediately available.
