One Injured in N.C. Christmas Eve Apartment Fire

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A Charlottes family home was damaged in an early morning fire Saturday. The fire happened at an apartment on Teal Point Drive in East Charlotte at about 5 a.m., firefighters said. Investigators said food left unattended on the stove was the cause of the fire. One adult was taken to Carolinas Medical Center Main before being transported to Chapel Hill Burn Center with potentially life-threatening injuries.

The fire happened at an apartment on Teal Point Drive in East Charlotte at about 5 a.m., firefighters said.

Investigators said food left unattended on the stove was the cause of the fire.

One adult was taken to Carolinas Medical Center Main before being transported to Chapel Hill Burn Center with potentially life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said its still unclear how much damage the fire caused.

The American Red Cross is helping the family.
