INDIANAPOLIS --

Indianapolis firefighters battled more than a blaze early Tuesday morning.

Officials said they had the flames under control at West 29th Street and Barnes Avenue just before 2 a.m., but a man drove his car around parked fire trucks, onto a sidewalk and back onto the street, rolling over a fire hose.

Indianapolis police were called to the home and took the man into custody after firefighters picked up the car and moved it off their supply line.

"The man, who became confrontational as firefighters moved his vehicle, told them he did not see the three large parked apparatus, all with red lights activated, and had no idea he had driven over the hose," said Indianapolis fire Capt. Rita Burris.

The home was destroyed by the fire.
