Better Training Sought for Georgia Volunteer Firefighters

If Georgia faces a homeland security threat, its first line of defense could be unpaid volunteer firefighters.

Because of that possibility, state fire-fighting and homeland security officials want Georgia's 21,000 volunteer fire fighters - representing 70 percent of the state's fire-fighting force - to get better training.
