Mass. Firefighters Battle Flames, Frigid Temps

Firefighters battling a four-alarm apartment fire in Brookline, Mass. on Monday morning were ordered out of the building.

A 25-year-old woman was taken to the hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

Dozens of other residents were displaced by the blaze.


"I was in my room and I smelled smoke. I looked out the window and I saw the apartment kitty-corner from me was on fire, and I ran down the hall and banged on all the doors and yelled 'fire,' Heather Courtney told reporters.

Courtney said she had lived in the building next door to where the blaze started for 27 years. She said she had likely lost everything as the fire jumped next door to her unit.Another resident said her roommate saved her after being roused by their cat.
