New Jersey Firefighter Dies of Heart Attack at Blaze

A member of the Hopelawn Volunteer Fire Department died after suffering a heart attack while battling a fatal blaze.

Firefighter Bruce Turcotte, 58, was transported to JFK Medical Center in Edison where he died, according to The Star-Ledger.

Crews responded to 33 Jefferson Street in the Menlo Park Terrace section of the Woodbridge Township.

"Bruce was an outstanding fire fighter and public servant," Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac said. "He loved the fire company. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family."

The resident who died in the fire was found in the basement of the wood-framed home.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
