Memphis Firefighter Burned Battling Apartment Blaze

The firefighter suffered first-degree burns to his face.

A Memphis firefighter suffered first-degree burns to his face at an apartment fire near Raleigh-Lagrange and Summer this morning.

He was taken to the Regional Medical Center at Memphis in non-critical condition.

The Memphis Fire Department reported responding to the fire at 6201 Summer Hills Circle in the Summer Hills apartment complex shortly after 9 a.m., where about 42 emergency response personnel made the scene. The fire was brought under control at 9:26 a.m. and reported knocked down about ten minutes later.

No other injuries were reported.

Investigators said the cause of the fire was a faulty electrical outlet in the living room of an apartment.

The residence had a working smoke detector, MFD reported.
