Philadelphia Firefighters Battle Recycling Center Blaze

Hazmat crews were called to the scene as authorities tried to identify what was exactly was on fire inside the building.

Philadelphia firefighters battled a large blaze at a recycling center near the foot of the Walt Whitman Bridge on Thursday morning.

Crews responded to the warehouse at 2904 South Delaware Avenue around 11:30 a.m. to find heavy smoke coming from the structure, according to WCAU-TV.

There were no reports of injuries and nearby roads including I-95 remained open.

Firefighters contained the blame shortly before 12:40 p.m.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
