Firefighters from the Orange County Fire Authority extinguished a tour bus fire in Mission Viejo Friday morning.

An off-duty Los Angeles firefighter pulled over on Interstate 5 and helped the close to 25 passengers out of the back of the fully involved tour bus that was headed to Legoland, according to The Orange County Register.

The fire was reported around 9:35 a.m. and shut down multiple lanes until shortly after 11 a.m.

Jason Goulding, one of the passengers, told the newspaper that he and his family smelled smoke while on the bus.

"Flames started coming from the rear of the bus," he said. "The kids were a little frightened, but it was all under control."

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
