April 28--Minneapolis firefighters were barely able to get out of a North Side building before a Saturday morning fire caused a wall to come crashing down.

Firefighters responded to 1122 Lowry Av. N. at about 7 a.m. after smoke was seen coming from the E and L Food Market, authorities said. The fire appeared to start in the basement and moved up the walls into the attic of the two-story building, officials said.

Three adults who lived in apartments above the corner grocery got out without harm, although one firefighter was taken to North Memorial Hospital with an ankle injury.

As firefighters fought the blaze for more than an hour, a wall collapsed, authorities said.

Firefighters are still on the scene. Fire officials said what's left of the structure will need to be demolished, including the Chicago Grill, a restaurant next door.

City records indicate the building was built in 1903, and the owner and landlord is listed as Adil Jaleel Albosaad.
