Mich. Firefighter Knocked Unconscious During Blaze

A Grand Rapids firefighter tripped on a hose while going up an outdoor staircase to the second-floor apartment of a burning home.

A Grand Rapids firefighter was knocked unconscious after he fell down a flight of stairs while battling a blaze Sunday night.

The unidentified firefighter tripped on a hose while going up an outdoor staircase to a second-floor apartment at a house on Deloney Street shortly after 5:30 p.m., according to WZZM-TV.

The firefighter was knocked out after landing on his head and was transported to a local hospital but is expected to be OK.

No one else was injured at the fire.

Crews were able to contain the flames to the upstairs apartment.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
