May 26--Chicago police and firefighters rescued three kayakers from Lake Michigan early Saturday morning.

Police received a "marine distress" call about 1 a.m., Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said. The three were kayaking in the lake near Diversey Parkway when police spotted them. They are wet but uninjured, Alfaro said.

Chicago Fire Department Cmdr. Will Knight, a department spokesman, said the three are being checked out by paramedics but haven't been taken to area hospitals.

A fourth kayaker is missing but police don't believe he is in the water -- he may have made it to shore but hasn't been located.
