Delaware FD Ambulance, State Police Cruiser Collide

A collision between an ambulance and a Delaware State Police cruiser caused damage but no injuries on Wednesday.

The Lewes Fire Department ambulance crew was en route to an emergency when it crashed into the unmarked cruiser in Lewes, according to The Sussex Countian.

The 48-year-old state trooper suffered minor injuries, while the ambulance driver, James E. Vanvorst, and his 39-year-old male passenger were not injured, troopers told reporters.

All were properly restrained, they added.

The 2005 Ford Ambulance was eastbound on Savannah Road and attempting to negotiate through a red light at the intersection with Gills Neck Road when it struck the state trooper’s vehicle, which was heading north on Gills Neck Road, police said.
