N.J. Firefighter Injured at Tractor-Trailer Fire Still Critical

A Florence Township firefighter remained in critical condition Friday afternoon after sustained a serious head injury while battling a tractor-trailer fire on Thursday.

Firefighter Brian Richardson was one of seven firefighters injured when a blast busted open the rear doors of the truck, striking them, according to The Times of Trenton.

Richardson was flown to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton following the incident and remains there in critical condition.

The other firefighter were treated and released that night.

Crews responded to the burning tractor-trailer on the side of I-295 around 1:40 p.m.

As firefighters attempted to open the rear doors, an explosion occurred, officials told the newspaper.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
