Three Pa. Firefighters Injured in Ceiling Collapse

As the firefighters were performing overhaul operations, the ceiling fell on them.

Three firefighters were injured when the plaster ceiling of a row house collapsed on them following a fire in Upper Darby on Friday.

Firefighter J.R. Schultz was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and admitted for observation while firefighters Sam Caroluzzi and John Heffernan were taken to Delaware County Memorial Hospital where they were treated and released, according to The Daily News.

Crews responded the fire at 292 Sheffield Road around 3:47 p.m. and the fire under control within 20 minutes.

As the firefighters were performing overhaul operations, the ceiling fell on them.

All five Upper Darby Township fire departments and the Lansdowne Fire Department responded to the blaze.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
