Garden Grove firefighters rescued a dog and two cats while battling a house fire Thursday morning.

Crews responded to the fire at a home around Steele and Danberry drives around 9:15 a.m. and found heavy smoke coming from a rear bedroom, according to The Orange County Register.

Two residents and one dog inside the residence were able to make it out safely, Battalion Chief Chuck Green told the newspaper.

Firefighters rescued the two cats -- Magic and Patches -- and a pit bull named Clyde.

The close to 20 fire fighters who responded arrived in minutes and had the flames out in about 30 minutes.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
