The chief of the Hollis Fire Department suffered a fatal heart attack on June 23 after returning home from a fire call.
Fire Chief George Davis, 62, reportedly went into cardiac arrest in his driveway after responding to the call early Saturday morning, according to WGME-TV.
Deputy Fire Chief Jason Johnson told the media that he filled out the incident report with Davis before he left the scene.
Davis' wife, Denise, found his body in the driveway of their home about an hour later.
The fire chief had led the department since 2005 and began his career as a firefighter as a junior member at the age of 15, according to The Portland Press Herald.
Davis also was a member and Past President of the York County Fire Chief's Association.
He is survived by his wife, a son, a grandson, seven sisters and two brothers.
Funeral Arrangements
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 26 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, June 27 at 10 a.m. at the Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland, Maine.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at Holy Cross Church at the corner of Broadway and Cottage Roads, South Portland.
