An Oakwood fire engine had to be rescued from a river after becoming submerged last week.

Firefighters were by the Auglaize River on Aug. 10 around 11:30 a.m. testing equipment that failed while at a call the previous night when the incident occurred, according to The Lima News.

While officials said it is unclear how the rig made its way into the waterway, they can confirm that the truck is a total loss.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office dive team assisted in removing the engine from the river.
