N.Y. Firefighters Thrown Down Stairs During Flashover

Troy Firefighter Dave Judge was hospitalized for a suspected concussion.

Two Troy firefighters escaped serious injuries after being thrown by a flashover while battling a blaze Sunday night.

The firefighters were sent down the stairs after fire "basically exploded," Fire Chief Tom Garrett told The Times-Union.

Firefighter Dave Judge was taken to Samaritan Hospital for a suspected concussion.

Crews responded to the fire at 468 Ninth Avenue in the Lansingburgh section of the city around 5:45 p.m.

It took firefighters more than two hours to bring the blaze under control.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
