Baltimore Firefighters Rescue Man From Blaze

An unidentified person firefighters rescued from a fire in South Baltimore was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center with burns and possible smoke inhalation Friday night.

An unidentified person firefighters rescued from a fire in South Baltimore was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center with burns and possible smoke inhalation Friday night, according to Kevin Cartwright, a spokesman for the Baltimore City Fire Department.

Ten units responded to a one-alarm call to the 1900 block of Breitwert Ave. near Carroll Park about 8:30 p.m. and took about 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, Cartwright said.

Firefighters found no other people inside the two-story structure.

Paramedics intending to take the victim to Johns Hopkins Bayview Burn Center for treatment were rerouted to Shock Trauma.

The severity of the person's burns are not known. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
