Fire Destroys N.C. Furniture Manufacturing Plant
Fire destroyed a furniture manufacturing plant Wednesday near Lexington, authorities said.
It took firefighters about 45 minutes to control the large blaze at Burnett Upholstery, which started at 11:30 a.m., according to FOX8/WGHP, the Journal's newsgathering partner.
Two people were inside the plant when the fire started, but they escaped without injury, authorities said.
Flames could be seen shooting 40 to 50 feet from the building, and smoke could be seen by motorists driving around Lexington, the television station reported.
Investigators are trying to determine how the fire started, authorities said.
