N.C. House Slated for Firefighter Training Burns

There was so much damage that it is no longer suitable for training.

A vacant home in Matthews, N.C. was the victim of a suspicious fire Sunday night, just days before firefighters were set to burn it as part of a training exercise.

The fire occurred on Pleasant Plains Drive around 11 p.m. and firefighters were surprised when they got the call, according to WBTV.

The ranch-style home was being prepared for burn training when the fire occurred.

Crews quickly put out the fire that engulfed the structure, but there was so much damage done that it is no longer suitable for training.

While fire investigators labeled the blaze as suspicious, the exact cause has not yet been determined.
