S.C. Firefighter Accidentally Shoots Self Outside Station

A firefighter with Midway Fire Rescue was wounded after he accidentally shot himself in the leg while handling a pistol he own in the parking lot of Station 82 in Pawleys Island on Friday afternoon.

A firefighter with Midway Fire Rescue was wounded after he accidentally shot himself outside of a firehouse Friday afternoon.

The unidentified firefighter was in the parking lot of Station 82 on Beaumont Lane in Pawleys Island when the incident occurred around 4:14 p.m., according to WMBF-TV.

Deputies from the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office responded after the firefighter accidentally shot himself in the leg while handling a pistol.

The firefighter's condition was not known, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Deputies are currently investigating the incident.
