Six People Hurt, Two Critically, in Texas House Fire

Nov. 12--6:20 a.m. update: Officials say that a 15-year-old and a 9-year-old are in critical condition and being treated at Dell Children's Medical Center after being rescued from a house fire this morning at 2103 E. 14th Street. Four other people have been taken to area hospitals suffering from smoke inhalation and lacerations.

6:10 a.m. update: Officials say that a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old resued from the house fire also have been taken to Dell Children's Medical Center.

Two men in their 20s have been taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge, officials said.

Earlier: Austin fire department crews have responded to a house fire at at 2103 E. 14th Street early this morning.

Officials say that two children were rescued from the East Austin house. The children, both listed in critical condition, have been taken to Dell Children's Medical Center, an official has said.

Austin police are assisting at the scene of the fire, saying they have evacuated surrounding homes in the area since some of the fire was reported in the house's backyard.

There are no reports the fire has spread to any other homes, but emergency workers were taking precautions, an Austin police official said.
