A man was killed early Sunday after his car slammed into a Houston fire truck that was backing into the firehouse.

A witness told police that she stopped her vehicle and watched the truck slowly back into the station's parking lot with its lights flashing. A white Mitsubishi then passed her at a high rate of speed and slammed into the fire truck, according to The Houston Chronicle.

Firefighters tried to help the 21-year-old man but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
