Five Houston responders were injured and a civilian was killed after an SUV slammed head-on into an ambulance early Monday morning.
The crew had just loaded the patient and a family member into the ambulance when the SUV struck the ambulance, according to KTRK.
The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, while the patient and the patient's relative were injured.
The firefighter/EMTs as well as the patient and the family member were transported to the hospital where they were reported in stable condition.
In addition to the ambulance crew, there were other firefighters there assisting.
The crash remains under investigation.
