A house fire in Southern Maryland sent two firefighters to a hospital on Sunday, including one who had to bail out a window.

Heavy fire and smoke were showing when crews from Bay District, PAX River, Hollywood, and Valley Lee approached the scene in Great Mills, according to Southern Maryland News.net.

One firefighter fell through a floor, but was able to get out a window. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, reporters noted.

The other, suffering from smoke inhalation, was flown to a local trauma center for treatment.

Crews worked for nearly a half hour before quelling the flames.
