Nov. 26--MINERSVILLE -- One firefighter suffered injuries at the scene of a fire at an apartment house in the borough Sunday night, said borough Assistant Fire Chief Jim O'Brien, who was in charge of the scene.
"Right now, I don't have a status on him," O'Brien said at 10:52 p.m. Sunday. O'Brien would not release the name of the firefighter; however he said the firefighter was taken to one of the Schuylkill Health System hospitals in Pottsville.
The fire on the second floor apartment at 327 N. Front St. was reported at 9:43 p.m., according to a supervisor at County Communications Center, Pottsville.
The apartment house is owned by David C. Eckert, 1810 Howard Ave., Pottsville, according to the online Schuylkill Parcel Locator.
The renters are Jason Dombrosky and Sadie Guitis, O'Brien said.
More than 30 firefighters rushed to the scene. With temperatures at 28-degrees, water, which spilled on the street, quickly turned to ice.
The fire was under control by 10:05 p.m., according to the communications supervisor.
Responders included firefighters from Minersville and Pottsville, and Minersville Ambulance and West Schuylkill ALS, Tremont, according to the communications supervior.
