Washington Township Firefighter Josef Tadijanac lost both legs above the knees when he was pinned between two tankers.

An Ohio firefighter who lost both legs after being pinned between two fire trucks while drafting water is suing a fire department and three personnel.

Washington Township Firefighter Josef Tadijanac filed the suit against Jefferson Township-Bellville Fire Department, Chief Craig Roberts and Firefighters Scott Gerhart and Isaiah Finley, according to The Mansfield News-Journal.

While pumping water from his tanker to the other at a June 24 fire in Troy Township.

He was standing behind the tanker from Troy when the other pulled up behind him. While water was being transfered, the vehicle from Jefferson Township-Bellville suddenly lurched forward, pinning Tadikanac, the newspaper reported, citing the suit.

The lawsuit claims the firefighters were not properly trained, and blames the fire department and the chief, the paper reported.

Tadijanac suffered above-the-knee amputations, organ system failures, vision loss and cognitive dysfunction. The suit says he has required multiple surgeries and has ongoing medical care.

The injuries have left him disabled and unable to perform customary activities.

The paper reported he is seeking in excess of $25,000.
