Doctors were reportedly considering moving Firefighter David Powell out of the hospital's burn unit and into a regular room late Friday.

The Nashville firefighter originally listed in critical condition after battling a house fire Thursday night has been upgraded to stable, according to The Tennessean.

Firefighter David Powell reportedly fell down a flight of stairs and was knocked unconscious with his face-mask partially off, District Chief Ricky Taylor told the paper.

Doctors were reportedly considering moving Powell out of the hospital’s burn unit and into a regular room late Friday.

Crews responded to the fire at a single-story home on Airpark Drive around 8:35 p.m.

Powell was found unconscious and was transported to University Medical Center in critical condition.

A second firefighter was hospitalized with minor burns to his cheek and neck and was released the night of the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
