Dec. 14--A Lexington firefighter driving an engine truck that ran over and killed a woman in downtown Lexington on Saturday probably will not face charges.
In a packet of investigative documents and recordings released Thursday, police included a statement that said investigators had found "no information or evidence to indicate that criminal charges will be placed against the driver of the vehicle."
The documents were released Thursday as part of a Herald-Leader open records request.
Lauren Roady was crossing South Broadway about 10:05 p.m. Saturday when an engine truck driven by firefighter Chris Presley hit her. The truck was making a left turn from Main Street onto South Broadway.
According to a collision report released Thursday, Roady was in the crosswalk and had a signal to walk. The report notes that Presley failed to yield the right of way.
The report also said Roady, who was 5-foot-3 and 120 pounds, was wearing dark clothing and was not visible.
