Six firefighters were hospitalized Monday night after a FDNY ladder truck collided with a garbage truck in the Flushing section of Queens. The driver of the garbage truck was also sent to the hospital as well.

According to an FDNY spokesman, Ladder 129 and the garbage truck collided at the intersection of 150th Street and Northern Boulevard at around 9:45 p.m. The spokesman wasn’t sure if the apparatus was responding to a call at the time of the collision.

Photographer Robert Stridiron said the driver, officer and one firefighter in the apparatus were trapped and firefighters from other companies extricated them.

The FDNY spokesman said all six firefighter and the one occupant in the trash hauler were transported to Flushing Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
