Jan. 09--VIRGINIA BEACH -- A Rottweiler turned on a kitchen stove Wednesday afternoon, causing a small Oceanfront-area bungalow to catch fire, according to officials.

No one was injured during the fire, which took place in the 500 block of 25 1/2 Street around 2:10 p.m., said Battalion Chief Tim Riley, a fire department spokesman.

Once ignited, the gas stove caused the kitchen cabinets to catch fire, Riley said. The one-story house sustained heavy fire damage, he said.

A neighbor saved the dog from the blaze before firefighters arrived on scene, Riley said. It took about 10 minutes for crews to extinguish the fire, which was ruled accidental.
