More than 70 residents are temporarily displaced after an early morning blaze completely evacuated the United House Apartments, 501 Pine Street in Scranton.

More than 70 residents are temporarily displaced after an early morning blaze completely evacuated the United House Apartments, 501 Pine Street.

City firefighters responded to the building around 9 a.m. Sunday to extinguish a fire, which started in one of apartments.

The fire was extinguished by 9:30 a.m., but residents have not been allowed back inside. There is no word on what started the fire or whether anyone is injured.

As of now, residents are taking shelter in the Bethel A.M.E. Church.
